Research in the NHS

The NHS has all the elements to be a powerhouse for clinical research: world-leading expertise, a diverse population, comprehensive care, and investment from public, private and charity sectors.

We support our charities by focusing our advocacy work on:

  • embedding research in the NHS
  • unlocking patient data to transform research
  • improving the uptake and adoption of innovations across the NHS.

Diversity and inclusivity in clinical research

This report, jointly published by the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), summarises an event we co-hosted in March 2025, which brought together people from across the UK clinical research sector to explore inclusivity and representativeness in clinical research, and how to make sure that the development of innovative medicines meets the needs of the patients.

We’ve also published a blog, which provides further information about the event and the themes of the report.

Accelerated Access Collaborative

AMRC sits on the board of the Accelerate Access Collaborative (AAC), which is the umbrella body across the UK health innovation ecosystem. It aims to make the UK one of the most pro-innovation healthcare systems in the world. Our voice on the board ensures that the views of our member charities are represented.
