In response to the Autumn Budget 2024, AMRC CEO, Nicola Perrin, said:

"We’re pleased to see the value of UK scientific research highlighted in this Budget. It strengthens the fundamental building blocks that underpin UK R&D, supporting a solid foundation for further investment, including from charities. It’s also welcome to see the Government fully commit to the costs of Horizon Europe association. 

"Increased investment for the NHS and a real-terms increase in funding for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) are positive steps for clinical research. The upcoming 10-Year Health Plan is an opportunity to continue this progress, and we look forward to engaging with its development.

"We’ll be monitoring the impact of other announcements, including increases in Employer National Insurance Contributions, on both the R&D and charity sectors."
